Crestline is located about halfway between Pittsburgh and Chicago in Crestline, Ohio, and could hold over 1,600 automobiles. In 1849, Pennsy officers developed plans to assemble a restore facility at Altoona. Construction began in 1850, and shortly, a number of small buildings housed a machine store, woodworking store, blacksmith shop, locomotive restore shop, and foundry.
